Palestinian killed after Hebron knife attack
A Palestinian was shot dead at this spot by Israeli forces who said he’d stabbed and wounded a soldier.
The incident in the West Bank city of Hebron appears to be the latest in a renewed wave of such street attacks.
The Israeli military said the knifeman struck during a routine security check.
Palestinian officials had no immediate comment.
The stabbing on Saturday came after Israeli forces shot dead three Arab assailants in separate incidents in East Jerusalem and the West Bank on Friday.
The street attacks that erupted last October happened largely in those two areas and in the Gaza Strip.
At least 33 Israelis and two visiting Americans were killed.
At the same time at least 215 Palestinians lost their lives. Israeli authorities said 144 were carrying out attacks, the others died during protests and clashes.
Palestinians accuse Israel of using excessive force and say some of those killed posed no threat or had no intention of attacking anyone.
The frequency of the attacks slowed in recent months.
