Pandit Nehru was all for secularism, says Sonia Gandhi
New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday credited India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru with the foresight to see the importance of secularism for a country as diverse as India. Gandhi was speaking at the two-day international conference to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Nehru in New Delhi. Gandhi further credited Nehru with laying the foundation for India’s economic emergence and said he recognised the public sector as a potent symbol of change and modernisation. Congress president also said Nehru was a great unifying force in the critical years after independence.
