People across India gear up for Christmas

Sharing is Caring

Chennai/Ranchi/Guwahati/Mumbai, Dec 24 (ANI): People across India have started organising functions and plays to celebrate Christmas. A shopping mall in Chennai has come up with a North Pole Mountain Village theme to mark Christmas. The village has miniature huts, a bridge, a train, reindeer and Santa Claus covered in snow. Most of the residents in Chennai, however, are unlikely to join in the festive spirit associated with Christmas, as they are still grappling with the after effects of floods that hit the city recently. In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, dances and plays are being organised on the occasion of Christmas. A local rock band also performed at a church in the city. Markets are selling items and statues of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary associated with Christmas. In Guwahati, Assam, a Christmas carnival is being organised. Markets and churches in Mumbai are adorned with decorative lights and items. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25.
