New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): Honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s immeasurable efforts in uniting the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday pitched for ‘Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat’ programme which will be an effort by states to recognise and learn about other each other’s culture and language. Addressing the nation on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel which has been dubbed as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’, Prime Minister Modi remembered the ‘Iron Man’s’ struggle in unifying the nation under the British rule. He added that it was Sardar Patel who began the ‘Clean India’ campaign which was lauded by Mahatma Gandhi and he also fought for women’s reservation in India among his other priceless contributions for the nation. The Prime Minister reminded the nation that the legacy left behind by great leaders like Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi must be passed to the future generations. Later, he flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ event at Rajpath.
