Police busts major sim card racket, 7 arrested
Thane, Maharashtra, Jan 25 (ANI): At least seven people were arrested after police busted a racket on Tuesday in Thane in Maharashtra. The gang was into making fake documents like Aadhar, Voter ID cards and purchase and sale of SIM cards. Accused Altmash Manzoor Ansari used to procure SIM cards of different mobile service operators in bulk allegedly by furnishing fake ID proofs and then sell them to customers without the requisite documents at a premium price. Altmash had as many as 11,000 activated SIM cards of different companies, 110 mobile phones, 9,400 fake Aadhar card copies, 3,072 copies of fake voters ID cards, 80 different stamps, 2 computer scanners and a printer, that were seized by the police. A case been booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) rw 34 (common intention) against the seven accused.
