Private companies foray into social sector in India

Bangalore, April 02 (ANI): Gayathri Vasudevan is a young entrepreneur based in India’s southern city of Bangalore in Karnataka state. She is the co-founder and CEO of LaboutNet Services India Pvt. Ltd., which has seven centres in Bangalore and 17 in entire Karnataka while 700 different centres in different parts of the country. She recalls that she started with a loan and today the total turnover is approximately 90 crores till last financial year. Gayathri sees large possibilities in the field of social sector and she has plans of providing vocational training to 2 billion people in years to come. For her, it’s not only business but also a social service which provide livelihood to people from unorgainsed sector. Gayathri has been working extensively on empowering the women in rural and semi urban areas through vocational education and skill development. The courses have given an opportunity for thousands of uneducated women across India to pick up a profession that can provide them decent income to contribute to their livelihoods.
