STORY: Mexican Hector Moreno scored twice and Andres Guardado made three assists as PSV Eindhoven defeated FC Twente Enchede 4-2 at home on Sunday (January 24) to remain in second place in the Eredivisie.

Twente, third from bottom in the league table, were the better side at the start and took the lead in the eighth minute when Jari Oosterwijk headed in off Chinedu Ede’s cross.

But PSV came back and levelled at 1-1 with Moreno combining with his Mexican compatriot in the 21st minute. Moreno latched on to Guardado’s free kick to head in past Twente goalkeeper Nick Marsman.

Two minutes later, the two Mexicans worked together again, Moreno finding the net with another header off Guardado’s corner to give PSV the lead.

In the 37th minute, Guardado found striker Luciano Narsingh who fired in to extend PSV’s advantage.

The visitors pulled a goal back in the 69th minute when South African Kamohelo Mokotjo played a fine through ball to Ede, who rounded Marsman and scored with an angled left-footed shot.

Phillip Cocu’s side sealed the victory ten minutes later, captain Luuk de Jong feeding the ball in to substitute Florian Jozefzoon.

PSV are in second place with 44 points, 3 behind leaders Ajax.
