RBI imposes new restriction on deposit of scrapped Rs. 500, 1,000 notes

New Delhi, Dec 19 (ANI): The Reserve Bank of India on Monday imposed new restrictions on the deposit of scrapped Rs. 500, 1000 notes, mandating that more than Rs 5,000 can be deposited only once per account till December 30 and that too after explaining to bank officials the reasons for not having done that so far. The guideline does not apply to deposits below Rs. 5,000, but multiple deposits, if account for an amount over specified will also come under the scanner.
