3. (SOUNDBITE) (Spain) BENITEZ SAYING OF PAYING LAS PALMAS:

“It is going to be, as the rest of the games, difficult. It is going to depend in big part on what we can do. They have a new coach and they will be eager to play and show their character as Quique Setien said. We have to impose our quality, our determination and ambition”

STORY: Real Madrid are not going to risk aggravating injuries to players like James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale by rushing them back, even though they are close to full fitness, head coach Rafa Benitez said on Friday (October 30).

Rodriguez has not played since returning from international duty with Colombia with a thigh problem in September; Benzema damaged a hamstring playing for France this month; and Wales forward Gareth Bale has a calf injury; also goalkeeper Keylor Navas will miss the La LIga game against Las Palmas on Saturday as a precaution.

He will be hoping to have at least some of them available when Real host Paris St-Germain in Champions League Group A on Tuesday.

“James is getting better. It is the same question about Benzema, Bale. These players are getting better. For me next week we will see them training with the team, doing all the training session and hopefully they will be available for the next game,” Benitez said after directing his players in a training session.

Real host promoted Las Palmas and Benitez told his news conference that he is confident his squad will be able to outplay their rivals.

“It is going to be, as the rest of the games, difficult. It is going to depend in big part on what we can do. They have a new coach and they will be eager to play and show their character as (he) Quique Setien said. We have to impose our quality, our determination and ambition,” he said.

Even a depleted Real should have little trouble dispatching Las Palmas, who are third from bottom.

Real are joint top on 21 points with Barcelona after nine matches, with the champions playing at Getafe on Saturday.

Third-placed Atletico Madrid could go top with a win at Deportivo La Coruna later on Friday (October 30).
