Residents in Kathmandu hold candle vigil for departed souls

Sharing is Caring

Nepal, April 29 (ANI): Residents in Kathmandu held a candlelight vigil in solidarity for the people who lost their lives in the worst earthquake to hit Nepal in 81 years. The death toll from Nepal’s devastating earthquake on Saturday (April 25) has crossed 5000. Meanwhile the rest of Nepal is left to cope with the loss of their loved ones. Barely three days after the earthquake and successive aftershocks, residents in Kathmandu braved the rain and came out on streets in droves to remember the departed souls. They said that the Nepal government had not rushed to the aid of the people who were out of their homes. International aid has finally begun arriving in the Himalayan nation of 28 million people, three days after the 7.9 magnitude quake, but disbursement is slow.
