Rhino poached in Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga, Dec 25 (ANI): Forest officials on Friday found carcass of a male one-horned rhinoceros killed by poachers in Kaziranga National Park in Assam. The incident occurred under Bagori forest range of the park on Thursday night. Forest officials found bullet marks on it. Poachers succeeded in decamping with the horn of the rhino. A forest guard, Sanjib Karmakar, said a hunt has been launched to nab the poachers.The thick-skinned, one-horned Indian rhinoceros is one of the five surviving rhino species in the world. Inside Kaziranga, they live in swamps, forests and tall thickets of elephant grass, where poachers hide before trapping them with poison or just shooting them dead.
