The star and icon of millions of sports lovers across the world Sania Mirza invoked some sensitive issues during Sahara New Network’s Think With Me Summit 2016. She admitted that the girls of India have a long way to go before they find a strong footing in the world of sports. The road is not that smooth despite some wonderful success stories that the world saw in remarkable women like Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu and Mary Kom. She recounted stories of her childhood when she was ridiculed for her fondness for the game. The country, she said has to change its thinking towards its women folks. She suggested that the government should make some infrastructural changes in the field of sports. The initiatives have to be taken by the who’s who of the society. The sports’ associations are in dire need of some genuine support.
