Shanta Kumar clarifies ‘vote security for UPA’ comment

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Former Food Minister and chairman of the high level committee on Restructuring the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Shanta Kumar on Friday clarifying his ‘vote security for UPA’ comment said that food security bill is a good thing. He added that 67 percent coverage in the bill is on higher side. He further said that BPL only got 5 percent which was reduced from 7 percent in the new bill. Shanta Kumar had claimed that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) passed during the UPA regime’s tenure was more about “vote security” than “food security”.
