Starbucks payment outage resolved

Starbucks is back open for business.

The company says an outage affecting its payment systems at a number of stores in the U.S. and Canada has been resolved.

Friday’s glitch forced some stores to resort to cash only transactions.

SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED STARBUCKS CUSTOMER, SAYING:

“I wasn’t going to walk away. I love Starbucks. I get it like every single day. I’m addicted to Starbucks.”

Some store managers handed out free drinks during the outage.

Others were forced to close early.

This woman says she drove around in a panic trying to find a store that was still open.

SOUNDBITE: LISA HARPER, CUSTOMER, SAYING:

“I do feel like I have the Golden ticket cuz I went to the one on 40th and that one was closed and I said let me try this one. I came and I got it like last minute.”

The world’s biggest coffee chain says the outage was caused by a failure during a daily system refresh.

But stores will be back open for business as usual on Saturday.
