Surrendered Maoist reveals to police 35 rebels killed in ambush in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh, April 21 (ANI): A Maoist who had surrendered last week in Chhattisgarh, told police that 35 rebels were killed in an ambush with security forces earlier this month. On April 11, seven personnel of the police’s Special Task Force (STF) were killed in a Maoist ambush in Polampalli forests in the rebel-infested Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Their bodies were brought to the Jagdalpur district amid high security a day later, where the state Chief Minister Raman Singh and police officials paid their last respects. Maoists had gunned down seven security personnel and left 10 others wounded while they were conducting search operation in Sukma. At a news conference in Raipur on Tuesday, Additional Director General (ADG) of police, Chhattisgarh, RK Vij said the Maoist, Soni Rama, had surrendered on April 16 and given them information on the ambush.
