Surveillance video shows moment of NYC blast
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Surveillance footage from a gym in the Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood shows the moment when a blast injured 29 people on Saturday night (September 17).
Cameras at the Orangetheory Fitness Gym showed passerby fleeing in terror after an explosion police have said occurred in a dumpster.
On Sunday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said there was no indication that the explosion was linked to international terrorism.
The explosion, described by one neighbor as “deafening,” happened outside the Associated Blind Housing facility at 135 W. 23rd Street.
The latest blast came less than a week after law enforcement agencies around the country were on heightened alert for the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, airline-hijacking attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
