Syria’s ceasefire appears to be holding at the start of its second day according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Paul Chapman reports.
Syria ceasefire ‘holding’
Video posted to a social media website purports to show the aftermath of an air strike on the Syrian city of Homs just before Monday’s ceasefire kicked in.
More video says this is the aftermath of a bombardment on Aleppo ahead of the truce which began at 1600GMT on Monday.
As the second day of the ceasefire began on Tuesday the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it appeared to be holding.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said hours after the ceasefire began that early reports suggested violence was dying down.

“There’s a report that just crossed my desk from Reuters that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that major conflict zones in Syria were calm after the ceasefire took effect at 7pm on Monday.”
The seven-day cessation of hostilities was brokered by the U.S. and Russia.
It’s the second attempt this year by Washington and Moscow to halt Syria’s five-year civil war.
