Thousands march on streets to observe Muharram

Ranchi. Chennai, Kanpur, Lucknow, Sep 21 (ANI): Thousands of people of Muslim community marched on the streets in different cities to observe mourning procession of Muharram today. People participated in self-flagellation to show their devotion and remembered the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, Hussain ibn Ali. Mourners used sharp objects like knives and chains for self-flagellation procession. They chanted ‘Ya Hussain’ in Arabic on streets during the procession. It is also marked as a holy day of Ashura for Muslims.
