Thousands of students write board exams in J&K giving a befitting reply to boycott calls
Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 16 (ANI): Braving the harsh winter chill, thousands of young boys and girls, wrote their board exams with full zeal and enthusiasm in Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, nearly 95 percent students appeared for the class 12 board examinations, while class 10 examinations registered an attendance of 99.2%. This will go down as a significant moment of this year’s four-month long separatist-sponsored unrest. Following unrest since July 8 at least 30 schools were set on fire, Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani even warned against the holding of exams in the valley but students and parents came out in large numbers against all odds. The school burning incidents were adding to the concern. However, parents, students and teachers were encouraged by the government’s 50% relaxation in the syllabus. The holding of examinations peacefully translates into a full return into normalcy.Slowly and steady, people are pushing the boundaries of the protest calendar, returning to work and trying to revive their businesses.
