Tight security in Paris’ financial district after threat

Security is tightened in the Paris business district after authorities named it as a target of a possible attack by the alleged ringleader of the recent wave of violence in the French capital.

French Minister of the Economy, Emmanuel Macron, visited the area Wednesday in a show of support to local businesses and the Christmas market.

“These security measures which have been reinforced are, from the state sector, police, military police and army.”

The area has also tightened security at the shopping center, Les Quatre Temps, one of the most popular in Europe which welcomes 45 million shoppers a year.

But one shopper is not buying it.

“The security who are checking our bags at the entrance of the shopping center are not in the slightest bit adapted to the current situation we are in. Especially after we found out that there was going to be an attack in the district. Why are people not waking up? I cannot understand why we are not putting in place tighter security.”

The attacks are producing a chill in the holiday season with local media reporting double digit drops in business.
