Train kills elephant crossing railway track in West Bengal

Alipurduar, Nov 23 (ANI): In a tragic incident, an elephant was killed in West Bengal as it was hit by a train, while it tried to cross the railway tracks. The goods train hit the mammal in Alipurduar district’s Madarihat area as it reportedly strayed from the nearby Jaldapada National Park. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of Alipurduar, R. K. Mokwan, said the train was not speeding as it was approaching a station. Locals, gathered at the accident spot, were distressed at the sight of the dead animal.
