Two civilians killed as MiG-27 crashes in West Bengal

Birbhum, May 09 (ANI): An Indian fighter jet crashed and burst into flames in West Bengal, killing two civilians on the ground, even as pilot manages to eject safely on Friday night. Russian-built aircraft, MiG-27, smashed into the ground near Tantipara area of Birbhum district. The Indian Air Force has initiated an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident. The accident was the latest in a series of crashes involving India’s fleet of MiG aircraft, which have been nicknamed “flying coffins” by the Indian press. Further details are awaited.
