U.S. senator: ‘bomb-building recipes’ should be taken offline

California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein appeared on the CBS Face the Nation news program on Sunday (November 22) where she faced questions about the threat of groups like Islamic State and how the internet plays a role in their activities.

“I have visited with all of the general counsels of the tech companies just to try to ask them to take bomb-building recipes off the internet,” Feinstein said. “Recipes that have been tested, and we know can explode a plane. Directions where to sit on the plane, to blow it up. We know there are bombs that can go through magnetometers, and to put that info on the internet is terrible,” she said.

Her comments came one week after Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks across Paris that killed 130 people and three weeks after IS claimed to have downed a Russian airliner over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
