In the latest attacks, Israeli police say a 16-year-old Palestinian girl and another teenager attempted to stab pedestrians with scissors at a Jerusalem market.

The girl was shot dead by police. Her alleged accomplice was wounded.

In a separate incident, a Palestinian fatally stabbed an Israeli at a gas station in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Police say another Israeli was injured by the attacker, who was then shot dead by soldiers.

The incidents are just the latest in an eight-week surge of violence in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin says Palestinians are to blame and that he’s determined to end what he calls “lone wolf” attacks on Israelis.

“It is going to be a continued struggle which requires patience, courage and determination and with those we shall win.”

The latest violence has claimed the lives of twenty Israelis and an American student, although on the Palestinian side, eighty-six people have been killed.

For many, like Natan Silber, an Israeli settler in the West Bank, vigilance is all important.

“It is hard, it’s hard to know that there is a chance that you might die this day.”

The latest violence is the worst to strike the region since the Gaza war last year, fueling talk of a new Palestinian uprising.
