WB civic polls: Counting begins amid tight security

Sharing is Caring

Murshidabad, April 28 (ANI): The counting of votes for the recently-concluded West Bengal municipal corporation elections, which recorded a voter turnout of 79 per cent, began on Tuesday amid tight security. The civic polls were held in 91 municipalities across the state. Repolling in 36 booths in over five districts took place on Monday after reports of booth-capturing and booth-jamming. The devastating earthquake in Nepal had disrupted the civic polls as tremors were felt in the state on Saturday. A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was also shot dead in front of a booth in Katwa Municipality Ward number 14 of Budwan district during the polls.
