Top Critic Movie Review of Welcome to Karachi

Sharing is Caring

Bollywood Movie Welcome to Karachi got released today. The movie stars Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani in lead roles. It is the remake of Hollywood film Dumb and Dumber.

The film has been shot in various parts of the United Kingdom including Bradford, Birmingham and Wales and sets were recreated to resemble Karachi. During the shooting of scenes in Wales, the lead actors were mistaken as real Taliban people and the shoot was halted by Scotland Yard authorities.

The Movie has been certified 12A by British censors.

Rohit Vats writes on Hindustan Times that going by the logic of Welcome To Karachi, it won’t be a good idea to travel inside Pakistan without a gun. But, cinematic liberty suggests us to overlook such things and then Welcome To Karachi becomes a one-time watch. He rated the film 2.5/5 and called it a one-time watch.

Saibal Chatterjee writes on NDTV that only the foolhardy would underestimate Bollywood’s ability to do worse than this film, but it is unlikely that you will see another film this unabashedly daft this year. Resist the itch.

Shubha Shetty of Mid-Day gives it 3/5 rating. She writes that Arshad Warsi is a competent actor and his talent shows in a particularly hilarious scene which includes a Indo-Pak cricket match. Jackky Bhagnani, as a money minded but daft Gujarati boy is good. Lauren Gotleib proves that she is a far better dancer than actor, as she sizzles in a dance number. Pakistani actors, Ayub Khoso and Adnan Shah, add dollops of delight to the narration.
