STORY: It is well known that elite managers Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger do not get on.

But the latest comments attributed to the Portuguese, currently the manager at Manchester United, appear to move to an even more extreme level.

In an upcoming book, currently being serialised in the British newspaper the Daily Mail, Mourinho is quoted as saying “I will find him one day outside a football pitch and I will break his face”, referring to the Arsenal boss.

On Friday (September 23), Wenger was asked by journalists to respond but the Frenchman laughed off the quote and said he was only concentrating on his job.

“I have not read the book and I certainly will not read it,” said Wenger, whose side take on Mourinho’s former club Chelsea on Saturday (September 24).

“I talk about football and that is all I do. I am not in a destructive mode, never. I am more constructive and I cannot comment on that because I am focused on tomorrow’s game and on the way we want to play football.”

Mourinho and Wenger have been involved in many spats down the years, with Mourinho calling the Frenchman a “specialist in failure” and a “voyeur” in the past.

There was also heated scenes on the touchline during an encounter at Stamford Bridge in 2014, where both manners shoved each other before being separated by a match official.

Mourinho, who is now in charge of Manchester United, will take on Wenger’s Arsenal on November 19.
