West Bank shooting injures 3 Israelis, gunman killed: Israeli army
At the Beit El checkpoint in the West Bank, another body lies on the ground after the latest assault.
The Israeli army says a Palestinian gunman opened fire, wounding three Israelis before soldiers returned fire and killed the shooter.
Assaults inside Jewish settlements in the occupied territory have become the norm recently, adding to a four-month long surge in violence in the region.
The violence has been fueled by the failed 2014 peace talks, the growth in Jewish settlements and increased Jewish presence at the al-Aqsa mosque compound.
So far the violence has killed at least 152 Palestinians, 97 of them officials say were assailants, 26 Israelis and one U.S. citizen.
And few expect the bloodshed to end anytime soon.
